Kasturba Medical
College, Mangalore, opened its doors in January 1955. The Medical Council
of India granted recognition to KMC Mangalore in 1958, with the first
graduating class. Recognition by the General Medical Council of Great Britain
and the Malaysian Medical Council followed soon. The College was first
affiliated to Karnataka University and later in 1965 to Mysore University,
followed by affiliation to Mangalore University in 1980.
