Pulmonary Medicine, all over the world is essentially one of
the subspecialties (in India, commonly referred as super-specialties) of
Medicine.
Pulmonary Medicine, which is also called as Pneumology is a
specialty that deals with diseases of the respiratory organs and diseases in
the respiratory tract. In some country, this specialty of medicine is called as
respiratory or chest medicine. This specialty of medicine is closely related to
the intensive care medicine or critical care medicine when offering treatment
to patients with need for mechanical ventilation.

a medical practitioner specialized in the field of pulmonary (Lungs) medicine -

diagnosis and treatment of diseases, disorders
and abnormalities of the lungs and cardio-pulmonary system consisting
of heart, lungs, blood vessels and

breathing disorders however they are also capable of prescribing medication for
problems like sleep disorders, severe allergies, and other lung conditions and
diseases besides providing critical care medicine while treating patients in
the ICU.
To be a pulmonologist, you need to possess certain skills
over and above what is required by the specialist [high aptitude, constant
learning, practical applications etc]. You require to be talking to the
patient; this means you need high degree of counselling skills. The pulmonary
