DR.B.R. Ambedkar
Medical College, Bangalore was established in 1981 by Ananda Social and
Education Trust, with the objective of providing primary, secondary and tertiary
health care facilities to the deserving. The college is now affiliated with the
Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. The college runs the MBBS course as
well as post-graduate courses in many subjects that are recognized by the
Medical Council of India.
The institution also envisages producing doctors with best
possible professional knowledge and attitude of service above self, both at
undergraduate and post graduate levels. The mission of the institute is to
provide the knowledge base, empathetic attitudes and practical skills which are
necessary to practice modern medicine and to build the character and skills of
our doctors to encourage their growth into well rounded, caring human beings.

of Surgery (MBBS):
MBBS (Medicine and Surgery)- Stands for Bachelor of Medicine
and Bachelor of Surgery. Typically, MBBS (Medicine and Surgery) is a 5 or 6
years course, minimum eligibility for which is an intermediate (10+2) in
science with more than 50%marks. Surgery is essentially the process of
utilizing instrumental techniques on a person by the doctors for investigating
as well as treating a pathological condition, for instance disease or injury.
Annual intake of students for the MBBS course is 100 and is
recognised by Medical Council of India, New Delhi and affiliated to Rajiv
Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka.
The duration of the course is 4 years of academic study and
1 year of compulsory internship . As per the new regulations of Medical Council
of India (MCI) the MBBS course has been divided into 3 phases.
