Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences in Bangalore is a popular medical college instituted in the year 1980. It is ranked in the top thirties when compared to colleges all over India. It is run by the Vokkaligara Sangha and has two primary sections in the campus – pre clinical and Para clinical departments comprise one section while the clinical department and the Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital comprise the other section.

The emblem of KIMS consists of a central wand with entwined snakes symbolizing the Greek and Roman Gods of Health called Hermis & Mercury, a symbol of modern medical science.  The tower at the top depicts one of the four towers erected by Sri. Magadi Kempegowda, the founder of Bangalore city who had erected these towers in all four directions to mark the boundaries of the city of Bangalore which still exists as tourist spots, though the city has grown beyond these limits.  The motto SATHATHA SEVA THATHPARATHE inscripted in Kannada language proclaims the goal in the life of every KIMS graduate meaning "Always devoted to the service".
