PROGRAMMES
(1) Postgraduate Diploma In Management (PGDM): The faculty’s main objective is to assist the student to develop those qualities and to internalise those values which make for effective leadership in organisations. Since this involves more than the knowledge of specific theories and models, different learning methods are used appropriate to the skills to be developed, like problem analysis, case studies in groups, simulated games, small group seminars, and ‘laboratory’ exercise. While classroom interaction aims at developing a wide knowledgebase, the student is encouraged to analyse, anticipate, innovate and otherwise prepare himself or herself for a challenging professional career. The courses are designed taking into account the requirements of employers and the abilities of the students to reach the highest standards.

Pedagogy
GIM works towards enabling its students to learn better through innovative learning techniques. The style of class is participatory, thus being an impetus in enhancing student capabilities. Teamwork is strongly emphasized, through interactive and group learning, which increases participation and helps maintain student involvement. Students analytical skills are tested through problem based cases, whereas the question and discussion periods and debates help stimulate thought. Visual and computer based instruction along with technology based delivery provide a more effective presentation of course material. Fieldwork service projects help integrate the theory and practice in business management. Teaching techniques at GIM are thus themed around enabling students to become independent thinkers, and making things happen. The learning process is enhanced through the use of technology that facilitates access to resources and readings and submission of assignments.

(3) Management Development Programmes: One of the major activities at Goa Institute of Management (GIM) has been designing, developing and conducting innovative Management Development Programmes (MDPs) for professionalizing management for working executives in India. The globalized business environment demands that managers leverage the most advanced approaches to keep abreast of changes. Hence, it becomes essential for managers to continuously update themselves about the changes in business management practices to enhance the thinking process for better quality decision-making. Due to this growing need of training and development for corporate executives, GIM has been consistently imparting training on the current areas of interest to corporate executives at all levels through MDPs, customized in-house programmes and consultancy as an important academic extension activity. The programs are designed to provide innovative and practical solutions to critical management challenges.

(4) Corporate Programmes: ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company, one of the leading private life insurer, has joined hands with GOA INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT to launch a six months Certificate course in Insurance, to provide a value for students aspiring to make it big in the Insurance Industry.

The iLEAD Porgramme is an innovative initiative in this direction. On the successful completion of this programme from GOA INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company will offer them guaranteed employment in the sales function as Executive Trainees. The course, which has duration of six months, offers a unique blend of principles of Management, knowledge of the Insurance Domain and a rigorous internship at one of ICICI Prudential’s branches.

Duration: Six Months of which 3 months will be in campus and 3 months will be on the job.

The General Management and Insurance Domain modules have been broadly divided into 2 terms consisting of 12 courses and 4 projects / workshops. The total contact hours for the entire programme are 390 hours, of which 200 hours in Term-I and 190 hours in Term-II:
