BTL Institute of Technology was established in 1997 by the BTL Educational Trust for Rural Development. The trust as well as BTL institute of Technology was founded and chaired by Prof. B. T. Lakshman, a non resident Indian settled in USA. The day to day functioning is looked after by the Working Chairman,and Supported by members of the Executive council. BTLIT is located on the Hosur Main Road, a stone's throw distance from the Electronic City, Bangalore, In 25 acres of lush green scenery, providing an excellent environment for a well balanced and highly competitive technical education. The institute is approved by the All India Counsel for Technical Education and Recognised by Govt. of Karnataka and affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum.

The BTL Educational Trust for Rural Development was founded in the year 1979 and registered under the Charitable Endowment Act. The Trust was founded by Sri. B.T. Lakshman, an NRI from U.S.A. The mission of the Trust is non profit, non sectarian and is dedicated to provide job oriented education, health and other humanitarian services to rural needy and disadvantaged persons. With this intention, he created a team of volunteer professionals and community leaders to head the organization as Trustees.

Admission Details
- Must have obtsined a minimum of 45% marks in Physics, Mathemetics, Chemistry and Electronics, Computer Science at 10+2 level for general category or 40% for others.
- For Govt. CET Seats Minimum of Seven Years study in Karnataka.
