Sri Siddhartha Tumkur MBBS Admission 2014

Sri Siddhartha Medical College (SSMC), Tumkur
Sri Siddhartha Medical College (SSMC) was started in the year 1989 by Sri Siddhartha Educational Society (SSES). The Medical College and hospital is located in the outskirts of Tumkur city – 6 km from the city amidst green field in a vast campus of 220 acres of the side of Bangalore – Honnavar national highway and it is just 76 km from Bangalore city connected by road and railway.

The climate is similar to Bangalore. There are 21 buildings with built-in area of about 73,875 sq. mt at the cost of about Rs. 20 crores, which include furnished quarters for staffs. There are separate buildings for pre and para-clinical departments, library and information center and SSMC Hospital.

The college was inaugurated by the then Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi. After the Medical Council of India and the then Karnataka state government run under the Chief Minister Ramakrishna Hegde had declined the permission to set up the college, the Supreme Court of India had given the signal to go ahead in mid-1989.

Admission Details

The candidate shall have passed the two year PUC examination conducted by PU Board, Karnataka State with English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as optional subjects or any other examinations recognized as equivalent by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Or the first year of three year degree course of a Recognized University with Physics, Chemistry and Biology including a practical test in these subjects provided the examination i.e. a "University Examinations"

B.Sc with physics, chemistry and biology (botany and zoology) or Chemistry, botany and Zoology exam of an Indian university, provided that he has passed the B.Sc examination and has passed the B.Sc Examination and has secured at least 50% in any of the two subjects studied at the degree level and he has passed the earlier qualifying examination with physics, chemistry, biology and English

Any other examination which in scope and standard is found to be equivalent to the intermediate science examination of an Indian university / board, taking physics, chemistry and biology including a practical test in each of these subjects and English the candidate shall have obtained not less than 50% for general candidates

The candidate should have to complete 17 years on 31st December of the year of admission.
