Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) was established in BG Nagar, near Sri Adichunchanagiri Kshetra with a vision of providing medical education to aspiring students from rural areas.
AIMS was inaugurated by the then Honorable Chief Minister of Karnataka, Sri Ramakrishna Hegde on 17th Jan 1986 in the holy presence of Padmabhushana Dr. Sri Sri Sri Balagangadharanatha Maha Swamiji. AIMS has evolved into a prestigious institution in the region since its inception.
Earlier AIMS was under Mysore University and now it comes under the purview of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.
Sri Adichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust (regd), started in the year 1973, to render social, charitable, educational and medical services, blended with spiritualism to all sections of the society across the nation and overseas, under the stewardship of the pontiff of Sri Adichunchanagiri Mutt, Paramapoojya Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Dr Balagangadharanatha Maha Swamiji, who was also the President of the Trust.
AIMS, a premier rural medical educational institution caters to the health needs of the rural population in the preventive, curative and rehabilitative domains besides teaching and training undergraduates and postgraduates of Medicine.
“ Seva Mano Bhava” or Service to humanity is the single most important underlying message the medical profession demands. At AIMS, this dictum is an integral part of the consciousness cultivated in students who choose to study here.
Admissions to the Government seats shall be made in accordance with the Karnataka Selection of Candidates for Admission to Professional Institutions Rules, (in short ‘Rules’) as amended from time to time. In case of any discrepancy, the Rules shall prevail.
The candidates from outside Karnataka can also write the Common Entrance Test. However, the seats in Government / University / Aided courses in aided colleges will not be offered to such candidates. As regards seats in un-aided colleges, the details of seats available, if any, and the procedure of allotment, if seats are available, will be notified subsequently and will be subject to the above condition.
Age: For admission to Medical course, have completed the age of 17 years as on 31st December of the year of the admission.
Educational Qualification: For Medical course, have passed Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th std. or equivalent exam with PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY & BIOLOGY as optional subjects with ENGLISH as one of the languages of study and obtained at least 50% marks in the PCB group. 40% in the case of SC / ST / Category-1 candidates provided that for Dental course, the candidate must have secured 50% marks in the optional subjects including English subject.

- Management- 20%
