Chettinad Hospital & Research Institute (CHRI),Kanchipuram was established in 2006 by the prestigious Rajah Sir Muthiah Chettiar Charitable & Educational Trust. The College is associated to Dr. MGR Medical University,Tamil Nadu.

The aim of the college is to create an institution that contributes in multiple ways to a healthier society.

The medical college is having a deemed status as per the UGC Act 1957. The affiliated university is Chettinad Academy of Research and Education. The medical institution conducts an all India Entrance Examination to select students into UG / PG courses.
