Sindhudurg Shikshan Prasarak Mandal (SSPM) started its Engineering College on 10th July 1999, under the steward of hon'ble Ex- Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri. Narayan Rane, to provide quality teaching and quality professional education. The college is located at Harkul Budruk, Taluka Kankavali on Kankavali Nardave Road and in the spread of 32 acres of land near the NH- 17 (Mumbai - Goa Road) passing through Kankavali city. The college building is 2.5 kms away from kankavli railway station of Konkan Railways and 4 km away from MSRTC Bus depot Kankavli.

The SSPM's College of Engineering is the First and the Only Engineering degree college in Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra started in the year 1999 by Sindhudurg Shikshan Prasarak Mandal ( SSPM ) , Kankavali.

SSPMCoE is affiliated to Mumbai University and approved by AICTE . SSPM has established in 1987 under the able leadership of honourable Shri. Narayanrao Rane - ExChief Minister and presently Revenue Minister of Maharashtra assembly . The Mandal also runs "Dairy Development college" in Kankavali affiliated to Konkan Krishi Vidyapith , Dapoli and in the field of social welfare , it has setup a "Vridhashram" at Bhiravande near Kankavali . SSPM's college is entering in its eighth year of degree course in the academic year .
