C. Abdul Hakeem College Of Engineering & Technology, Vellore District, Tamil Nadu

C.Abdul Hakeem College of Engineering and Technology (CAHCET) was established in the year 1998 by Melvisharam Muslim Educational Society, popularly known as MMES, committed to the service of the people, has been striving to provide literacy to the downtrodden, underprivileged people.Initially, the college was started with three disciplines viz., Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, and Computer Science & Engineering. Then, the college had to its credit three additional courses, viz., B.Tech-Informational Technology, B.E-Electronics communication engineering, Aeronautical Engineering and Civil Engineering. In 2006-07 the intake of students in E.C.E department has been increased from 60 to 90 and in 2008-09 the intake of student in C.S.E department has been incresed from 90 to 120. Three P.G courses viz M.B.A, M.E Applied electronics , Computer Science & Engineering, CAD/CAM Engineering and MCA have also been started in recent years.

MISSION:

(a) To nurture world-class intellectual growth of our students by imparting high quality, futuristic technical education in a cost-effective manner.

(b) To inculcate love for integrity and moral values among students and enable them to contribute to the development of humanity through application and dissemination of technical knowledge.

(c) To strive for advancement in engineering research and develop into a centre par excellence in engineering and technology.

On our very first attempt itself Tamilnadu Sate Council for Science and Technology (TNSCST), an autonomous body under Govt. of Tamilnadu has approved a student project scheme 2007-2008 in December, 2007 on “Impact of retail outlets of agricultural products on producers and consumers in Vellore district, Tamilnadu” under the guidance of Prof Richard Regis and Dr. S.Kayalvizhi. The student who is to do the project is D. Arun of II MBA. A sum of Rupees Five Thousand only has been sanctioned by TNSCST to the college towards this project.

· Ms S. Kayalvizhi, our faculty member successfully defended her doctoral thesis on A study on Job Satisfaction, Organisational Commitment and Quality of Work Life among Private Hospital Nurses in Vellore District, Tamil Nadu – South India on 12th December, 2007 for her Ph.D. awarded by Madras University.

· A project titled “A study on the impact of over the counter sale of non-prescribed medicines at medical shops among the customers at select cities TamilNadu” guided by Dr. S. Kayalvizhi, Director, School of management was approved by TamilNadu State Council For Science and Technology (Autonomous body, under Govt. of TamilNadu), Chennai on February 19,2009.
