Sri Siddhartha
Medical College in Tumkur was started by the Sri Siddhartha Educational
Society in the year 1989.
The vision & mission of the college is to work with goal of “Friendship, Philanthropic guide to the inherent talents of each student, to develop their skill and guide them to build all round personality with a aim of making them better citizens of the Nation.
The college was inaugurated by the then Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi. After the Medical Council of India (MCI) and then Karnataka state government run under the Chief Minister Ramakrishna Hegde had rejected the permission to set up the college, the Supreme Court of India had given the signal to go ahead in mid-1989.
The medical college sits on a vast area of land and has
separate buildings for the pre clinical, para-clinical and clinical
departments. The College is a constituent of the Sri Siddhartha University that
achieved its deemed status in the year 2008.
The medical college is very close to Bangalore and has
excellent faculty and state of the art class rooms and labs and it is thus no
wonder that people from Bangalore as well as Tumkur.
The college fee structure is similar to that of other deemed
universities.

Eligibility:
Candidate who has passed the MBBS degree examination after
pursuing a study in a Medical College recognized by the Medical Council of
India of this university or of other recognized medical college affiliated to
any other University, recognized as equivalent there to, and has completed one
year Compulsory Rotating Internship in a teaching institution or other
institution recognized by the Medical Council of India and has obtained
permanent registration of any State Medical Council, shall be eligible for
admission provided the candidate for degree/diploma has not failed more than
four times in final year MBBS subject viz., Medicine, Surgery, OBG provided
further that, in respect of SC/ST and BT candidates should not have failed more
than five times in the above said subjects
Admission Procedure:
Admission in PG Course – For getting admission into PG
Diploma, MD & MS Courses in the medical institution, the MBBS graduates
have to qualify Common Entrance Test – conducted by Sri Siddhartha University
(SSU). Admissions to the students is based on the ranks obtained
in All India Post Graduate Entrance Test (SSU – AIPGET).
