National Institute of Construction Management and Research (NICMAR), Pune was started in the year 1983 as a 'Society' and a public charitable 'Trust'.

The NICMAR has a vision of encouraging all round activities that are aimed at the development of students, promoting education, training, research, professionalism and the development of the skills required in the practical scenarios. The college has a knowledge partnership with The Economic Times, Construction Week magazine and CREDAI.

NICMAR’s objectives include undertaking special projects, collaboration with other organizations, dissemination of knowledge through seminars / conferences, etc; publishing literature, undertaking consultancy and taking necessary actions conducive to fulfillment of the objectives of the Society. Under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950, NICMAR was registered as a Public Trust in 1982.
