Kasturba Medical
College, Mangalore was started in January 1955. The College was first associated to Karnataka University and later in 1965 to Mysore University, followed by affiliation to Mangalore University in 1980. Manipal, today, could be a data powerhouse and a name in teaching.
The Medical Council of India
granted recognition to KMC Mangalore in 1958, with the first graduating class.
Recognition by the General Medical Council of Great Britain and the Malaysian
Medical Council followed soon.
The faculty aid facilities at Kasturba managed by the Dr. T
M A Pai Foundation can be compared among the best around the world, Massive
libraries, hostels, play grounds, swimming pools and the 1700 bed super specialty
Kasturba Hospital all add up to make Kasturba Medical College standout of the
crowd.
The State having seen the success of medical education at
Manipal has permitted opening of other institutions across the country for
similar purposes. That's echoing Manipal.
