Karpaga Vinayaga
Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Maduranthagam was instituted in the year
2009. The Institute was started under the auspices of Karpaga Vinayaga
Eduacational Trust at GST Road, adjacent to NH-45, near Maduranthagam,
Kancheepuram Dist., in Tamilnadu.
The institute is a self-financing co-educational college dedicated to the training of medical doctors. The College offers the M.B.B.S program. The curriculum and school leadership are provided by M.G.R Medical University, Chennai. The medium of instruction is English.
KIMS occupies the sprawling area of 63 acres with
independent RCC structures housing various educational, instructional, and
hospital areas along with allied necessary structures like hostels for both
boys and girls, hygenic canteens, modernised gymnasium, etc.
ELIGIBILTY CRITERIA:
- The selection of students to medical colleges shall be based solely on the merit of the candidates and for determination of merit the following criteria are being followed:
- In a state having more than one Board/ examining or where there is more than one medical college under the administrative control of one authority a competitive entrance examination should be held.
- To be eligible for competitive entrance examination, the candidate must have passed any of the qualifying examination as enumerated above at II (2).
- O.C.: must have passed English and minimum of 60% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together. 60% marks in each of Physics and Chemistry. Aggregate should not be less than 140 out of 200.
- B.C. : must have passed English and minimum of 60% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together. 60% marks in each of Physics and Chemistry. Aggregate should not be less than 130 out of 200.
- M.B.C. : must have passed English and minimum of 60% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together. 60% marks in each of Physics and Chemistry. Aggregate should not be less than 120 out of 200.
- S.C./S.T. : must have passed English and minimum of 60% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together. 60% marks in each of Physics and Chemistry. Aggregate should not be less than 80 out of 200.
ADMISSION PROCEDURE FOR NRI QUOTA SEATS IN SELF-FINANCING
COLLEGES
- The marks fixed by Medical Council of India as indicated below shall be adopted as minimum eligibility marks for admission to MBBS/ BDS/ Para Medical Course under NRI Quota in Self-financing colleges.
- The candidate must pass Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany and Zoology) and English individually and obtain minimum of 50% of marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the qualifying examination.
- For SC/ST students -40% of the marks as stated above.
- NRI financially supporting the candidate must be a blood relation such as Father/ Mother/Sister/ Uncle/ aunty only.
- Applicants for admission under NRI Quota shall not have completed 21 years of age as on the 1st July of the respective academic year.
