Engineering is a stream which is known to almost all the
households in the country. It is a common choice for higher studies. The
country has almost 3 lakh students who pass out of this course each year. The structure for this course is quite good.
The duration is for 4 years. Courses are offered in a wide range of areas.
Eligibility Criteria for the B.Tech course:
- The criteria’s that the candidates need to fulfill to apply for the course include:
- Minimum 18 years of age and maximum of 23 years of age
- Candidate must have completed 12th standard or equivalent
- A minimum of 50% in 12th standard is a must in most institutes
- Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics should be amongst the subjects studied in 12th standard
- For many institutes English also should also be one of the subjects studied
- Many institutes ask for 60% in each of these subjects
Admission Procedure for the B.Tech course:
The students will need to appear for the various engineering
entrance exams like AIEEE, IIT-JEE. For those joining for the course after
Diploma in engineering the lateral entry scheme is an option they can opt for.
They are eligible to join directly into the second year. Also they will need to
appear for entrance exam for the same.
They will need to submit proof such as:
- Attested copy of 10th School Leaving Certificate as age proof
- Attested copy of 10th and 12th Mark Sheet
- Attested copy of Proof of identity like Ration card, passport etc
- Attested copy of Domicile certificate
Course Structure for the B.Tech course:
Each year will be split into two semesters. Each semester
will have around eight subjects. It is important the students clear all the
exams. There will be some common subjects like English, Mathematics, and
Physics etc. Also some of the subjects will be specific to the area of
specialization of the student.
Course Aspects for the B.Tech course:
In the initial year the students will be given a brief idea
of what the course will cover. They will be given a basic knowledge in each of
the subjects. It is important that they understand all the various concepts
being taught well. It will be useful in the later part of the course.
Career Opportunities for the B.Tech course:
On completion of the course the candidates have quite a few
options available. They have to choose between whether to go in for further
studies or to enter the job field. They can choose to further studies in areas
like Master course or MBA or even MS in India and abroad. If they choose to
work they can opt for technical job or non technical job. Technical would be
related to the area of specialization like telecommunication, electrical,
software development etc. Non technical will include Marketing, Sales, and
Operation Management etc.
