Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute is situated in Pillaiyarkuppam, Pondicherry was instituted in the year 2001.

The college was founded by Sree Balaji Educational and Charitable Public Trust. It is a part of Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth University, deemed university.
