Indira Gandhi Medical
College & Research Institute (IGMCRI), Pondicherry was instituted in 2010
by the Government of Pondicherry as an autonomous institution of Government of
Pondicherry.
The institute was founded by its chairman, Shri M.K. Rajagopalan, is a modern medical college and hospital located in the Bahour taluk of the union territory of Puducherry, India.
The college is associated to Pondicherry University.
The
vision of the college is to provide necessary medical and paramedical education
courses in the union territory of Pondicherry so as to ensure the availability
and accessibility of health care services and to provide high quality
undergraduate and postgraduate medical and paramedical education courses so as
to ensure quality health care.

MBBS (Medicine and Surgery)- Stands for Bachelor of Medicine
and Bachelor of Surgery. Typically, MBBS (Medicine and Surgery) is a 5 or 6
years course, minimum eligibility for which is an intermediate (10+2) in
science with more than 50%marks. Surgery is essentially the process of utilizing
instrumental techniques on a person by the doctors for investigating as well as
treating a pathological condition, for instance disease or injury.
