MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT) is an autonomous private engineering college located in Bengalore, Karnataka and is affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) head quartered at Belgaum, Karnataka, India.
The college was established in 1962 and recently celebrated Golden Jubilee. From Aug 2007, MSRIT has been academically autonomous for both Under Graduate and Post Graduate Programs. While VTU will still award the degrees, the college has academic freedom in framing its own schemes of study, curricula and student evaluation. The College was sanctioned 120 Million rupees under TEQIP program from the World Bank in 2012.
MSRIT offers various programs which include Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Architecture, Master of Technology, Master of Business Administration and also offers Programs leading to award of PhD in various disciplines. In 2013, MSRIT was ranked 16th best engineering College in India by Indian Today and Neilson. The same survey also rated the college as the best in Karnataka.
MSRIT is also a research centre in 12 areas. This includes both engineering and management disciplines. The institute has academic alliance with Intel, IBM, Schneider Electric, JSW Steel, Cognizant Technology Solutions, EMC, Nokia and few other multinational companies. It also partnered ISRO in 2010 to build StudSat which was a nano satellite launched. MSRIT was chosen in 2012 to join the consortium of colleges that would assist ISRO in the StudSat-2, a satellite that provides inter satellite link. The daily the Deccan Herald reported that learning at MSRIT is an enriching experience in a recent article. The institute is also credited for the development of India's first unmanned air vehicle (UAV) with an autopilot system.
Students are admitted to postgraduate courses based on their GATE test scores as well as on their Post Graduate Karnataka CET scores.

Admission Details
MSRIT admits students to undergraduate courses based on their Karnataka CET or their COMED-K UGET test ranks. MSRIT also admits students under Management quota,which does not place any merit requirements.There is a lateral entry scheme in place, by which students holding diploma degrees can directly enter the second year of study in engineering.Students are admitted to postgraduate courses based on their GATE test scores as well as on their Post Graduate Karnataka CET scores.
Eligibility Criteria
- A candidate who has passed 10 + 2 pattern of examination (equivalent to the two year Pre University in Karnataka) with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Computer Science/ Biology/ Electronics as optional subjects in the qualifying examination is eligible to pursue an undergraduate degree in engineering at MSRIT.
- The eligibility for admission is 40% marks in the qualifying examination in case of SC/ST, Category-1 and OBC Category candidates. This provided that the marks obtained by the candidate in biotechnology/ computer science/ biology/ electronics in the qualifying examination will be considered in the place of chemistry.
- In case the marks obtained in chemistry is less for the required aggregate percentage for the purpose of determination of eligibility (and not for the purpose of determination of rank, in respect of engineering/ technology courses).
