Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) is a constituent medical school of newly created KLE University. It is located at Belgaum in Karnataka state. The college was earlier affiliated to the state unitary Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. The college has been adjudged among the top twenty medical schools in the country as per a questionable national survey done in year 2007.

The college is recognized by the Medical Council of India, Malaysian Medical Council, and listed in WHO World Directory of Medical Schools. Its high standards for teaching and research have attracted students from all over the world. There are collaborations with University of Illinois at Chicago, University of Missouri-Kansas City, Vanderbilt University, University of Alabama at Birmingham and University of Colorado Health Sciences Center for teaching and research. The college has received funding from Indian Council of Medical Research, World Health Organization and National Institutes of Health, USA.

The sprawling 100 acre campus in Belgaum has excellent infrastructure, such as state-of-the art labs, equipment, as well as other facilities that collectively provide a professional environment. The college has a 1000-bed free charitable block as well as the 1250-bed KLE Society's Prabhakar Kore Hospital and Medical Research Centre on campus. The college also runs a rural hospital: Dr. Kamal Hospital & Medical Research Centre, 150 km away at Ankola.

Admission Details

The Candidates Seeking for MBBS Admission in Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Belgaum have to appear KLEU UGAIET conducted by KLE University.

Eligibility Criteria

• The candidates seeking admission should have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate examination PUC II/HSC or the Indian School Certificate Examination (ICSE) or any other equivalent to10+2/HSC examination of any recognized Board/University from any School/College studied in India/Abroad after 12 Years of Study. 
• The candidate should have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually and must have obtained at least 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taking together in the qualifying examination i.e. PUC II/10+2/HSC or equivalent. The candidate should have also secured at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taking together at KLEU-UGAIET Exam.
• Age: The candidates should complete 17 years of age.

Admission Details

• A candidate desirous of appearing in the KLEU- PGAIET, is required to complete the prescribed online application form available on the University website and submit the same to the University online, on or before the scheduled date.  
• The hard copy (Printout) of the application form submitted online must reach the University office on or before the scheduled date.

Eligibility Criteria

Requisite qualifications for admission to Medical PG Degree and Diploma courses: 

• The candidate seeking admission to these courses should have passed MBBS phase III examinations from the college recognized by Medical Council
  

   of India. 
• Those of the students who have taken additional 4 (Four) or more than 4 (Four) extra attempts (i.e. who have failed for four times) during the entire MBBS course are not eligible to apply for admission to PG Degree/ PG Diploma courses. Production of attempt certificate from the Head of the Institution is mandatory.
  
• As per the regulations of statutory bodies, as laid out in Post Graduate regulations the minimum percentage of marks in the entrance test for eligibility for admission to Post Graduate Courses shall be 50 percent.
  
• The candidate should have completed the compulsory rotating internship/would be completing by 30th of April.
• Foreign / PIO / NRI students need not appear for KLEU-PGAIET. Their admission will be based on qualifying examination marks.

MCI Norms: Medical PG Degree and Diploma Courses: 

• Every student selected for admission to the Postgraduate medical/dental course in any of the medical institutions in the country, shall possess recognized MBBS degree or equivalent qualification and should have obtained permanent Registration from the Medical Council of India, or any of the State Medical Council or should obtain the same within one month from the date of the admission, failing which the admission of the candidate shall be cancelled. 
• Provided that in the case of a foreign national, the MCI may, on payment of the prescribed fee for the registration, grant temporary registration for the duration of the postgraduate training restricted to the medical college/ institute to which the applicant is admitted for the time being exclusively for postgraduate studies; provided further, that temporary registration to such foreign national shall be subjected to the condition that such person is duly registered as medical practitioner in his own country from which the applicant has obtained his/her basic medical qualification and that his/her degree is recognized by the corresponding medical council or concerned authority. 
• If the candidate fails to fulfill the relevant eligibility requirements as mentioned above he/she will not be considered eligible for admission for Medical PG Degree and Diploma courses even if he/she is placed in the merit list of the KLEU-PGAIET. 
• The candidates are advised not to submit their application forms for appearing in KLEU-PGAIET, if they do not fulfill any or all of the relevant eligibility requirement.
