Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University (BVDU), Pune was
established in 1964. The mission that Bharati Vidyapeeth has defined for itself
is to bring about intellectual awakening of people through the spread of
education and to prepare human resources needed for all round development,
particularly economic, of the country. In 1996, the Government of India, on the
recommendation of the University Grants Commission, granted the status of
"Deemed to be University" to a cluster of 12 institutions of Bharati
Vidyapeeth in appreciation of their academic excellence.
Bharati Vidyapeeth runs more than 78 schools and 60
institutions of higher education, including those of professional education.
Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University has 32 constituent units and is one of
India's largest multi-disciplinary multi-campus universities. Over the years
BVDU has contributed thousands of well trained graduates, post graduates and
research doctorates to the pool of professionals in India and abroad.
Bharati Vidyapeeth has established five specialized research
institutes in the areas of Health Related Sciences, Biotechnology, Information
Technology, Applied Chemistry and Social Sciences. Today, Bharati Vidyapeeth
has its campuses in New Delhi, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Solapur, Kolhapur, Sangli,

Deemed University –
- The Bharathiya Vidyapeeth-Pune has three main campuses such
as Lavale Campus, Dhankawadi Campus and Erandwane Campus within Pune city.
- Lavale Campus – Bharati Vidyapeeth's, Group of Institutes,
Technical Campus, College of Engineering, Lavale, Pune was established in 2012.
The campus occupies 350 acres of land with a beautiful landscape and all other
amenities. Since the institute is located at the outskirts of Pune city. The
institute runs five branches viz. Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering,
Electronics Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and
Telecommunication Engineering, with an intake of 60 students each.
- Dhankawadi Campus - is the prime campus of BVDU and is
spread across 85 acres of land which is very conveniently located, this campus
is also known as the Katraj Campus, It houses 24 colleges of various
disciplines major among them are the Medical College, Dental College, &
College Of Engineering Pune.
- Erandwane Campus - is located in the heart of Pune City and
houses 5 major and other smaller colleges primary among them are IMED, New Law
College Pune, Pune College of Pharmacy and Yashwantrao Chavan college of Arts
Science & Commerce.

Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University Medical College is one
of the premier medical college imparting high quality medical education in
private Sector. Established in 1989 it can boast of a well experienced,
dedicated and committed faculty members, excellent infrastructure with specious
class rooms, well equipped laboratories, a well stacked library with round the
clock internet and digital library facilities and an 850 bedded attached
tertiary care Bharati Hospital. The hospital caters for all the services and
has a multidisciplinary OPD and IPD with super specialty services. It has well
equipped and modern critical care facilities like the, ICU, NICU and PICU. It
also has a very modern and state of art operation theatre and all the
diagnostic facilities like CT scan, MRI, mammography etc. are available. It has
a 24 hours functional blood bank and a pharmacy.
Medical course is a long course of four and half years and
students very often tend to get short of confidence, insecure, depressed,
especially those students coming from various corners of India and from abroad.
Facilities are provided to the students for their academic
progress as well as extracurricular development.
When the college opens for the first year students, the
Medical Education Unit of the college conducts a three-day orientation
programme. Students are counseled regarding medical curriculum, pattern of
teaching and learning, study skills, stress and time management. Later, when
the students are exposed to clinical teaching, orientation is conducted
regarding development of clinical skills.
The academic in charge of pre-clinical, para-clinical and
clinical batches receive inputs about performance and attendance of the
students. Parents of those students with unsatisfactory performance are
informed regarding their ward’s progress. Counseling sessions are held between
heads of department and such parents and students to sort out academic and even
non-academic problems of these students.
The student’s avail of all other facilities such as library,
digital library, internet, well equipped lecture halls with LCD projection.
Several cells like counseling cell, guidance cell, grievance
cell exist for the students.
Facilities are provided for students to participate in
sports and cultural activities. Students are encouraged to participate actively
in sports activities, cultural festivals and various community outreach
programmes. Every year the students bring out an issue of college magazine “The
Elixir” and showcase their literary skills.
