The campus is located adjacent to National Highway no.5. It is 3 kms from Eluru Railway station and 35 kms from Gannavaram(Vijayawada) airport.

The Medical College was started with an annual intake of 100 MBBS students. Necessary permissions from Medical Council of India, Government of India and Government of Andhra Pradesh were obtained. The College is affiliated to Dr NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada. Post graduate courses in all Broad Specialties were started in 2007.All Medical and surgical super specialties were added. The  MCI has permitted for  increase in annual intake of MBBS students  to 150 from the Academic year 2009-10.Accordingly, now 150 MBBS students are admitted every year.

Way back in 1960, children of the professors of Meerut College, residing in a small close knit colony, Victoria Park, formed an informal cultural group known as 'Baccha party'. The activities of this group was to arrange & organize cultural programmes on celebrated occasions as well as celebrate National Days such as the Independence Day & Republic Day etc.. with time, the role of this group grew to inspire change in the name, 'Baccha party' to Subharti Bal Sanstha, which had by now acquired a more responsible aspect. Atul Bhatnagar, son of a eminent economist & professor of Meerut University Dr. K. K. Bhatnagar, was the progenitor as well as the navigator of the Sanstha. As Atul Bhatnagar & his teenage associates grew in age and attained adolescence, Subharti Bal Sanstha also came of age to be renamed 'Yuva Uthan Samiti'that was raring to take on greater social activities.
