INDIAN SCHOOL OF BUSINESS (ISB), HYDERABAD
The Indian School of Business evolved from the need for a world class business school in Asia. Our founders- some of the best minds from the corporate and academic worlds- visualised the leadership needs of emerging Asian economies. They recognised that the rapidly changing business landscape would require young leaders with an understanding of evolving economies, but also with a global perspective. The ISB is committed to its role in creating such leaders through its innovative programmes, outstanding faculty and thought leadership. Our VisionOur vision is to be an internationally top-ranked*, research-driven, independent management institution that grooms future leaders for India and the world. Funded entirely by private corporations, foundations and individuals from around the world, who believe in its vision, the ISB was conceived as a not for profit organisation. With increased globalisation, the ISB sees three important trends which will influence its direction for research and education in the coming years:
Requirement for global competencies in this part of the world
Globalisation of Indian corporations
Increasing interest in management best practices in emerging markets, including India
With a diverse mix of students from different industries, experiential and holistic learning, international faculty and students, and strong corporate involvement, life at the ISB is a unique experience for students, executives, faculty, staff and their families. And life after the ISB is never the same, a fact our alumni will vouch for.
*ISB Moves Up in Global B-school rankings- Stands at 15, Financial Times
History
In 1996 an eminent group of business leaders and academicians recognised the need for a globally top-ranked and distinctive business school in Asia. They realised that the evolving business scenario would require young leaders trained in the nuances of transitional economies, yet exposed to a global perspective. The vision of the founders was to create a school that was different in many ways – with innovative academic programmes, and a world-class, yet affordable, overall value proposition. Through their collective networks, the founders inspired the very best in business and academia to see their vision and join their cause. In less than a year, the Executive Board was formed to be followed shortly by the formation of the International Academic Council. Things moved fast from then on, with academic associations with two of the worlds leading business schools - Kellogg School of Management and the Wharton School. The London Business School followed closely before the launch of the first Post Graduate Programme. The Government of Andhra Pradesh welcomed the ISB into Hyderabad, laying the foundation stone for the campus in 1999. The Post Graduate Programme was launched in 2001 with the first batch of 128 students, followed shortly by the launch of the first Executive Education programmes. In the course of the last few years, the School has set up Six Centres of Excellence, each with a particular focus on issues relevant to emerging markets. The Centres work closely with industry through conferences, seminars and workshops creating a vibrant research environment at the School.
Distinctive Programmes
The Indian School of Business has a programmed focus on managing business in fast-evolving environments, with a strong emphasis on entrepreneurship, the impact of technology on commerce, and managing the emerging markets of Asia.We offer a unique one-year full time Post Graduate Programme for candidates with work experience, a Post Doctoral Research Fellowship Programme, and Executive Programmes. The ISB works closely with its associate schools and academic area leaders to create contemporary programmes that blend Western concepts into the Asian context. The corporate-academia partnership has shaped the School in three ways: it has ensured that the content for our programmes is relevant and well-timed, that it is international in its perspectives, and is delivered at world-class standards.Recruiters, in particular, find the diversity of our PGP graduates very useful.

THE INSTITUTE OF PUBLIC ENTERPRISE, HYDERABAD
About IPE
The Institute of Public Enterprise (IPE) was established in 1964 for the study of issues and policies relating to public enterprises (PEs). Shri.S.S Khera, ICS, the then Cabinet Secretary, Government of India, had conceived the idea of a research institution that would undertake a systematic and sustained study of issues relevant to the formulation of policies towards public enterprises. In the early sixties, when PEs were designed as the principal instrument to serve the social and economic objectives of development, Shri. Khera felt that there was need for an institute which would collect relevant information and documents on PEs, study specific issues and undertake consultancy and training exclusively for PEs. Dr.V.V. Ramanadham, the then Professor and Head of the Department of Commerce, Osmania University, translated Shri Khera’s concept into a reality that is IPE, with the active support and guidance provided by the late Dr. D. S Reddy, then Vice-Chancellor, Osmania University as an autonomous, non-profit society at the initiative of the then Cabinet Secretary to the Government of India, Shri S.S.Khera, ICS, and late Dr.D.S.Reddy, Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University. The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, recognized the Institute as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ in social science research in 1976. The Institute is partly funded by the ICSSR and the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The Institute is located in a picturesque greenwood area at Hyderabad in Osmania University Campus. Over the last 40 years, the Institute has widened the area of its work. Starting with research, the Institute soon found itself having to undertake consultancy for PEs and responding to the training needs of the executives of PEs and various educational programmes. The Institute became a pioneer in the field of computerization, assisting the Government of Andhra Pradesh and several other states in formulation of computerization policy, developing software for PEs and public systems, and on the use of computers as a decision support system. The educational programmes of the Institute have their basic foundation in the various research, training and consultancy activities undertaken by the Institute for public and private organizations/industries over the last four decades. The programmes are the natural extension of the educational activities of the Institute from the short term management education to the long-term one and have lead to vertical integration of the research function. The insights into management education began in 1981 with the commencement of a 3-year part time MBA (PE) programme for practicing managers. In the year 1995, the Institute started a two-year full time Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM), recognized as equivalent to MBA by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), to provide skilled human resources to meet the requirements of the Industry. Consolidating on the experience and to meet the needs of the industry, the Institute commenced two-year full time Post Graduate Diploma in Management - Retail and Marketing (PGDM-RM) in 2007 and Post Graduate Diploma in Management - Banking, Insurance and Financial Services(PGDM-BIF) in 2008. These courses are recognized by AICTE. These insights have led to the creation of a niche for itself in the conduct of the PGDBM course. IPE’s long association with the Indian industry has been responsible for its pre-eminent position in the area of management education.
Overview
The Institute of Public Enterprise (IPE), being the premier Business School at Hyderabad started a two-year full time Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM) in 1995 with the approval of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is also recognized equivalent to MBA by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to provide skilled human resources to meet the requirements of the Industry. The admission to the course is through the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by Indian Institute of Management (IIMs).
The notable features of the PGDBM course is its emphasis on Personality Development, study of a foreign language (French), hands-on-experience of computers and wide option of electives. There is growing and enthusiastic response from corporate houses for campus recruitment of its students.
As part of IPE’s mission to provide trained manpower to the corporate sector, the Institute launched a two-year full-time PGDBM programme in 1995 with the approval of All India Council for Technical Education, Ministry of Human Resources, Government of India.
The Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM), is a two-year full-time programme comprising four semesters of study including project work.
The course is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of Human Resources, Government of India.
The Course is also recognised as equivalent to MBA by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

(2) Vedic Management: At M.I.M., student-managers are given foundational courses exposing them to the theories, principles and techniques of Vedic Management, Natural Law Based Management.
No system of Management in the world today is as perfect as the Vedic System of Management because existing systems of management derive their policies and procedures from the theories of economy, production, and sales, but they are not fully in accord with all the Laws of Nature that manage the order and evolution of the universe. This is the reason why all the existing systems of management are prone to problems of instability and are unsatisfactory.
Only Vedic Management has that unlimited broad base of the total organising power of Natural Law, from where it draws upon the infinite creativity of the infinite organising power of the holistic value of Natural Law, and also, simultaneously, draws upon the enormous creativity of the specific Laws of Nature.
The Vedic Consciousness of the manager is the basis of Vedic Management, which is in full accord with the Cosmic Management of Natural Law, which organises and maintains the universe in perfect order and harmony -- supporting the progress of everything and everyone, singly and collectively, in the direction of evolution.
This consciousness-based management training was distorted by the foreign influence in India for thousand of years, and even now the momentum of foreign influence is dominating management systems in India, rendering them totally incomplete and ineffective.
With Maharishi Universities of Management in America, Europe, and Russia; and Maharishi Vedic University and Maharishi Institute of Management in India, the field of management is now rising to enjoy the light of Vedic Management -- the light of perfection.
The means to achieve Vedic Management is to develop the Vedic Consciousness of the manager and everyone under his management. For this the simple formula is:
To practise Transcendental Meditation and the TM-Sidhi Programme including Yogic Flying for about twenty minutes morning and evening, and verify personal experiences by reading the Vedic Text;
To live and work in buildings built according to Vastu -- Sthapatya Veda -- the Vedic Science and Technology of building according to Natural Law; and
To avoid problems through Graha Shanti, which inspires the benevolent and harmonising influences and filters out any negative influences from the Cosmic Counterparts of the individual -- the planets, stars, galaxies, etc.
There is a large body of scientific research in all fields of physiology, psychology, sociology, and ecology that documents the benefits of the programmes of Maharishi's Vedic Technology -- the means to achieve Vedic Consciousness, the basis of Vedic Management. (For a glimpse of the more than 600 scientific research studies conducted at more than 200 universities and research institutions in 32 countries, please refer to the Transcendental Meditation page in the Programmes section of this website.)
The Vedic Consciousness of the manager is the basis of Vedic Management, which is in full accord with the management of the universe through Natural Law. Vedic Management handles the unlimited management of the universe with perfect order and harmony, supporting everything and everyone to perpetually progress in the direction of evolution.
